2014 Subaru Forester Overview.jpg
 Industry Reviews

The 2015 Subaru Forester receives minor feature changes, including a standard rearview camera on all models and larger 18-inch wheels for the 2.5i Touring trim.

A year ago, Subaru redesigned its Forester crossover SUV, adding sharper styling, a roomier and nicer-looking interior and enhanced fuel economy. The 2015 Subaru Forester is essentially unchanged, but that's not an issue as this is still one of the better choices for a small crossover this year.

Part of the Forester's fuel economy secret is its continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), replacing the conventional automatic in the previous model. But the standard manual transmission is more efficient, too, boasting six speeds instead of five for improved cruising efficiency. As usual, the Forester also comes in turbocharged XT trim, which offers impressively quick acceleration along with a still respectable EPA fuel economy rating.

Subaru has taken its funky Forester more mainstream for 2014. Larger inside and out and with a higher seating position, the new Forester's packaging squares up with the big-name cute-utes. Beneath the skin are Subaru's trademark horizontally opposed four-cylinder engines (the base 2.5-liter makes 170 horsepower; an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter version makes 250) and an improved all-wheel-drive system. Other improvements include convenience features galore and better fuel economy.

Visibility Plus! by Forever Forester from Georgetown TX | February 4, 2015

Our previous SUV had serious blind spots and that was a major reason for choosing the Forester. The decision was a good one, for that and other reasons. The Subaru is easy to drive, with nimble handling. The gas mileage is better, and the all around ride is comfortable.

Another great forester. By sebastianos on April 26, 2015

This is our second Forester, and we are very pleased. It is everything we wanted and expected it to be. We are getting about 22 MPG for real stop and go traffic, and about 31 or 32 for hops to the store or shopping - this is in-city, but not heavy, stop & go.

Have owned a Forester for the past 4 months. No oil burning issues in my 2015 as many '14 owners have complained about. It's easy to drive and has a solid amount of get up and go with the new CVT transmission. Several big name reviewers were critical about it but I just love it. averaging ~26.4mpg (This is an actual estimate and not just trusting my digital readout) It is however my first automatic vehicle. Engine is very simple to work on should the need arise and no brainer for scheduled maintenance. Kind of an amazing feet considering how technically complicated most vehicles are these days. Oil filter is right on top of the motor oddly enough. I don't even have to bend down to remove it. It's almost too easy to drive with the addition of EyeSight. It can easily be set to stop and go in traffic which is AMAZING coming home from a long day at work or for long drives. The cabin is spacious and well suited for two people and a dog. Easily suited for 4 humans of any size and room for at least one large animal in back. My only complaints are the unidentified rattle in the dashboard plastics and the fact that the four washer fluid spouts use quite a bit of fluid. It's not typical for me to replenish on a bi-weekly basis.
